AUDITION NOTICE: Seussical The Musical
WHO CAN AUDITION:
Cast: Anyone 15+; Children’s Ensemble: 8–14-year old’s
SYNOPSIS:
Seussical is a contemporary re-imagining of Dr. Seuss, which weaves together many of his most famous stories and characters in unexpected ways. The musical creates the witty, wild and whimsical world of Dr. Seuss as it has never been seen before. When chaos erupts in the Jungle of Nool, it will take The Cat in the Hat, Horton the Elephant, Gertrude McFuzz and a gaggle of characters to bring harmony back to their world.
AUDITIONS:
February 19th and 20th @ 6:00-9:00pm in 10-minute increments. Please prepare 32 bars or 1 min of a song of your choice AND include a link to your karaoke track to accompany. Sign up to reserve your spot.

February 21st – 6:00-9:00pm

REHEARSAL SCHEDULE:
Rehearsals will begin February 26th and will be from 6:00pm – 9:00pm, Monday through Thursday (Potential Friday rehearsals if necessary). Note: Not all actors will be called for every rehearsal
DAYTIME/MATINEE SHOWS*:
We will be having two daytime shows on April 29th & April 30th for our local elementary schools. Participation is not required but encouraged.

SHOW FEE:
If you are cast in the production LSP requires you to pay a $35 show fee. There are also volunteer and sponsorship opportunities in lieu of these fees.

ROLES AVAILABLE:
The Cat In The Hat (Any Gender, 15+). Our story's omniscient narrator, he is fun loving and enjoys rhyming. Pops up throughout the story to help the audience. Wise and attentive.
Jojo (Any Gender, 15+). The Mayor's son, he is a Who that is always finding trouble. Bright, creative, and inadvertently mischievous. Possesses a wildly expansive imagination and finds solace in his friendship with Horton.
Horton The Elephant (Male, 15+, Tenor), Our story's main character, he is a compassionate and gentle elephant. Commonly misunderstood because of his larger size. He is protective and loving of all creatures in the jungle.
Gertrude Mcfuzz (Female, 15+, Soprano) Horton's one-feathered-tail bird neighbor. Gertrude is sweet and timid. Though kind and loyal, she is also self-conscious of her shortfalls.
Mayzie Labird (Female, 15+, Mezzo) The most beautiful bird in all of the jungle. Oblivious to her self-centered ways, she relies on her talent of manipulation, and intoxicating beauty, to navigate her way through life.
The Sour Kangaroo (Female, 15+, Alto) The 'leader' of the jungle. She is loud, brassy, and stubbornly set in her ways. A caring mother, but unabashedly sassy and soulful.
Ensemble (8-100): Jungle Creatures (The Wickersham Brothers, Yurtle The Turtle, Bird Girls); The Whos (Mr. Mayor, Mrs. Mayor, General Gengus Khan Schmitz); AND MANY MORE!
