AUDITION PREPARATION:
Sing a song selection 1 minute or less and use a karaoke/instrumental track. No accompanist will be provided and no a cappella auditions. If you need us to play a backtrack, please provide the link and include the precise time (minute; second) that you would like to begin. Otherwise, please provide your own device and backtrack.
Please be prepared to cold read monologues from comedy shows. You do not have to memorize a monologue.
PRODUCTION DATE:
The entire show will be produced beginning at 7pm July 18th, and go until the show opens July 19th at 7:30pm. There will be breaks provided for actors & crew to leave the building. If participants would like to stay the full 24 hours a liability waiver must be signed.

SYNOPSIS:
Moonglow by Kim Carney is a heartfelt and humorous drama about love, memory, and second chances. The story follows Maxine and Joe, two elderly residents in a nursing home who form an unexpected romantic bond despite the effects of Alzheimers and Dementia. As their connection deepens, their younger selves come to life on stage, reenacting their past loves and losses. Meanwhile, Maxine’s daughter struggles to come to terms with her mother’s condition and newfound romance. Blending nostalgia, wit, and poignancy, Moonglow explores the enduring power of love and the way memories shape our identities. The setting will be a nursing home in the 1990s.

Please Note: If you are auditioning to be one of the dancers, those audition times are from 6:30 – 7:30 only. Dances to be performed in the show will include both fast and slow dances from the 1920s and 1930s.
Video auditions will be accepted for those that are unable to attend in-person auditions.
All Actors: Be prepared to do cold readings from the script
Dancers: Be prepared to do cold readings from the script AND complete a dance audition (dress appropriately) demonstrating 2 dances of your choice. You will need to bring your own music to play. If you have a partner, please feel free to bring them to accompany you for the dance portion of the audition. Your partner can be auditioning or just accompanying you.

Roles Available:
Performers 16 and older are welcome to audition. The main characters are as follows:
Maxine - an elderly female with dementia
Girl – Maxine as a young woman
Benita – nurse in her 30’s
Diane – Maxine’s daughter - in her 30s or 40s
Joe – an elderly male with dementia
Greg – Joe’s son - in his 40s or 50s
Sailor – Joe as a young man
EXTRAS: There will also be roles with few or no lines for actors to play residents and employees at the nursing home.
One nursing home resident needs to be a piano player and if others can play an instrument, that would be very nice too.
Also, one resident will need to sing Moonglow for the show. If you would ike to be considered for this, please be ready to demonstrate your rendition at the audition.
Both experienced and first-time performers who enjoy acting and/or dancing are invited to audition.
